Advanced Usage
- Used at the beginning of a sentence or clause, often followed by a comma. It is more formal than "nhưng" (but) and is similar in register to "tuy nhiên" (however).
- Dự án có nhiều khó khăn về tài chính. Tuy vậy, chúng tôi tin tưởng vào thành công cuối cùng. (The project has many financial difficulties. Nonetheless, we believe in its ultimate success.)

Tuy nhiên (conj): However, nevertheless. A direct and very common synonym.
- Anh ấy không có nhiều kinh nghiệm. Tuy nhiên, anh ấy rất sáng tạo. (He doesn't have much experience. However, he is very creative.)
Tuy thế (conj): Even so, all the same. An older or more literary form with identical meaning to "tuy vậy."
- Con đường rất nguy hiểm. Tuy thế, họ vẫn băng qua. (The road was very dangerous. Even so, they still crossed it.)
